Scottish Highlands Session | Buddy and Jill

It started out as an offhanded comment…Jill has family in Scotland so I had mentioned to her that it would be so incredible if she were able to visit at the same time as us so that she could shoot Rachel and James’ wedding with me. And I was so amazed when Jill and her husband, Buddy, got on board with the idea! Not only was I thrilled to have her shoot the wedding with me, but Ryan and I were also incredibly excited to get to explore parts of Scotland together! Jill’s mom is from a tiny town in the Highlands and Jill grew up visiting this beautiful country with her family. It was so much fun because she knew all the best places to take us!

One of those places was Glencoe. You might recognize it from some movies that have used it as a backdrop…this area of Scotland literally took my breath away. And the only logical thing to do when your in a magical place like this with another photographer is to swap portrait sessions! So one of the days when we were in the Highlands we got all dressed up and went on our way to scout the perfect spots to shoot. I think these will go down in history as the most epic portraits I’ve ever taken and I’m so excited to add them to my portfolio of Anniversary Celebration Sessions! There’s just something so enchanting about this place and the grandness is overwhelming! Jill and I were like kids in a candy shop because every direction you looked there was a good spot for a photo…We took these in the middle of the day when it was BRIGHT out and then it went from sunny to rainy to sunny all in a short time period so we also got to capture images with different moods and I love them all!

Some of our favorite memories of our trip were made with Buddy and Jill and we are so thankful for their friendship! It was so much fun getting to capture them in this season of their lives. They celebrated three years of marriage this year like Ryan and I and their relationship is one that we really admire! They are both self employed so they get to spend a lot of time together and I love seeing how they love each other and also how much fun they have together! Ryan and I always leave our time with them with full hearts. Buddy is so caring and Jill is one of the most fun people I know. Here’s to hoping we’ll all be back in this pretty place together one day, but for now, I hope you enjoy my favorites from this shoot!
