Wesley and Mary Kate

I’ll never ever forget MK and Wes’s wedding day because it was one of the rainiest weddings I’ve ever photographed! It never stopped raining the whole day…and my favorite part? It didn’t effect the mood of the day in the slightest! Nothing could put a damper on this party!! MK was so sweet and joyful from the getting ready suite, to walking outside under multiple umbrella’s for photos, to dancing at the reception…I love a couple who knows how to go with the flow! Wes and MK are so laid back and so much fun to be around…it’s no wonder why they had friends and family come to DC for their special day from all over…

They celebrated their wedding at the same hotel where her sister had her wedding years earlier! The Fairmont in DC is absolutely gorgeous with tons of natural light…which lucky for us, meant we could shoot portraits in the lobby since it was so rainy outside!

But we did get a few shots outside, because MK and Wes’s bridal party was one of the best I’ve ever gotten to know or work with…they formed a wall of umbrellas above and around them so that we could take pictures by the monuments! Moving in a mob of umbrellas through the rain was one of the most memorable moments of my career thus far!

Their reception was so sweet and memorable too…MK’s dad’s toast was my favorite part…he mentioned how beautiful everyone looked, but then said he especially had eyes for five women in the room who were looking especially beautiful that night! His wife, his three daughters, and his granddaughter… I think everyone in the room melted.

Mary Kate, you did make the most beautiful bride! Wes, you’re one lucky guy! Thank you so much, for having me be a part of such a special season in your lives! I hope you enjoy my favorites!

That picture in the rain almost looks like snow. It’s so beautiful. Great work!
