It started with my love for Kate Spade, which inspired parts of my new branding…I had been wanting to plan a styled shoot for a while, but just hadn’t had the time yet! And I knew I couldn’t do it by myself…So I contacted Michelle of Michelle Amarillo Events and asked if she’d be interested in working with me on it…and I was so excited when she said yes right away!
Since the point was to create something fun that would inspire others, the original idea wasn’t going to cut it because we thought it wasnt unique enough! So I started thinking about things I was excited about at the time…and I was REALLY excited that The Great Gatsby was about to come out…I knew that wasnt super original so I looked it up and saw lots of other Gatsby shoots that were more vintage inspired. SO then I thought why not combine the two ideas? I emailed Michelle again, and was so happy that she was on board right away! She is so good at taking an idea and running with it, which is why I think she’s so good at what she does! She’s able to mold her bride’s ideas into something cohesive and gorgeous! She was so on top of things and kept us really organized on the day of the shoot.
The shoot is supposed to reflect a contemporary version of what an afternoon brunch may have been like in the Great Gatsby and we hope that it inspires the modern bride to think about ways that elements of the story could be added to a wedding today without it being too thematic. We thought the story would be best represented by an indoor/outdoor elegant venue, with a “Gentlemen’s Bar” in place of the modern candy bar, and feathers, sparkly gold, and classy floral elements. We wanted the theme to shine through the shoot in an elegant and understated way.
It was so much fun to get to work on it with so many talented people and I’m so thankful to have had it featured on Grey Likes Weddings yesterday! Since they only showed off a snippet of it, I thought I’d share the rest today! I hope you enjoy it!
