It’s September (can you believe it??) and that means that Fall is coming and I couldn’t be more excited! The fact that the seasons are changing means that the Fall wedding season has started and I’ll be swapping out my sundresses for scarves and iced coffees for cappuccinos…and I can’t wait to go apple picking with friends or for the holidays to be here! This is the start of my favorite time of year! But the fact that the seasons are changing also means that time is flying by…Do you let time slip through your hands too? Do you forget to savor the little joyful moments that happen everyday? I do. I forget to celebrate life exactly where I am and instead race through it anxious to arrive at the next season in my life instead of savoring the time exactly where I am. I forget to celebrate the accomplishments that I already have and the moment that I’m in and instead live in a state of running towards the next goal.
I believe that sometimes God is asking me just to wait and do the things that I’m already signed up to do in this very moment as best as I possibly can…If I’m always running towards the next goal whether if it’s to gratify my own wants or so that I feel like I’m keeping up with my peers in life or even just because I’m an ambitious person, then I’m missing the point of what life is about..and I’m missing the JOY that God wants me to experience everyday just by doing what He has for me in any given 24 hour period with a grateful heart and nurturing the commitments and relationships that he’s already given me. But I think it has to be a conscious choice. You have to choose to appreciate what you have — your job, your friendships, your home, etc. or else your always going to be feeling unfulfilled…James 4:14 says, “How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog, it’s here a little while — then it’s gone”. Don’t wait to choose joy! Sometimes the seasons change and you realize that you should have appreciated the prior season of life more while you were still living in it.
So anyway, to all of you who read my blog..I’m thankful for you! And I hope you savor these last days of summer, even though I know so many of us are just really excited for it to be fall! :)
On another note, this past weekend I had the honor of photographing a beautiful couple’s wedding in Leesburg, Virginia and then got to shoot with one of my dear friends, Ali, at a hotel in DC (swoon! I love city weddings!)…and now I’m back in the office finishing up editing my summer weddings and meeting with a few potential 2014 brides this week! This month, I’m thankful for a house to live in (even though there is literally a hole in the ceiling in our kitchen right now from where a pipe burst and Ryan has to fix it), friendships that encourage me, wonderful clients, and a husband and family who mean the world to me.
Aaaand here is a shot of my brides bouquet from Saturday because every post is better with a little pretty! Ahh! The light from Saturday’s sunset was unreal.
Happy Tuesday! Here’s to a great September!

Beautiful! Also, I am so guilty of this – here’s to being focused and SAVORING and being PRESENT in the moments that God gives us!

I 100% agree with you :) I think the “planners” in us tend to live in the future vs. the now; this is such a sweet reminder! And I love the pretty at the end… Can’t wait to see the rest!!!
