Long before I even thought about diving into the world of photography, I wanted to be a wedding planner. I love making lists, interacting with people, being creative and crafty, and DETAILS…so the profession seemed like a natural fit for me! I had such an amazing time planning my own wedding–creating the theme, designing the details, contacting vendors, executing the event, etc….I had a really hard time handing over the reigns when it came time for me to actually ENJOY the day!
So even though my path has gone in a different direction (I’ll save the answers to WHY that happened for a different time), wedding planning will always have a special place in my heart. It is so much work and I have tremendous respect for anyone who does the job!..but it’s also so rewarding to see all the hard work and planning come together. Back when I was planning, I was so obsessed with blogposts on the subject…Katelyn James’ Wedding Wednesday, Lauryn Galloway’s Handmade Weddings, and Merriment Events‘ Richmond Wedding Wednesday have always been my favorites because they were brides too not too long ago! I’m so excited to start my own little series offering inspiration and tips that I picked up during the almost 15 months that I spent as a bride-to-be and wedding planner wannabe!
As any DIY/details obsessed/budget conscious bride knows, it is such an amazing thing when all the millions of little pieces start falling into place and when you can see the hard work coming together and the cohesive event forming! In honor of the start of Wedding Planner Wednesdays, I decided to share some pictures of our wedding in The Knot Magazine (and lets be real..Katelyn James actually gets most of the credit for this because of her fabulous photog skills!). It was so surreal being able to go to the magazine section of Kroger and see our wedding in print! I can’t wait to show my future grandchildren and tell them all about how I once dreamed of becoming a wedding planner. Come back next week to start seeing tips and inspiration!

I remember seeing your wedding pop up on Katelyn’s blog and being weirdly obsessed with it. Everything about your wedding was gorgeous!
