Announcing: The Light and Airy Photographer

*If you’re just looking to get the free Light and Airy Starter Guide, click here!! If you want to learn more of my story keeping reading :)…

It’s so much fun to look back at the different stages of my business and see all the growth that has happened since photographing my first wedding back in 2012! You might not know this, but I actually used to want to be a wedding PLANNER! Crazy right? It wasn’t until I started planning my own wedding in 2010 that I realized I was falling in love with the photography aspect of wedding days. I got a professional camera in 2011 and started photographing anyone who would let me! Most of my biggest photography influences (including my own wedding photographer turned close friend, Katelyn!) were creating really beautiful bright and punchy photos at the time…and because I learned a lot from them, it was natural that my photos started out really bright and punchy too! But eventually as I grew more confident in editing, I started to experiment more and develop my own style as a photographer. It wasn’t that my photos were incorrect before…the photo on the left was actually from a wedding that ended up being my first wedding featured in a magazine…but the photos just weren’t a great reflection of me as a person or artist!

2013 vs. 2016

So I started making changes to my work slowly and over time I ended up with a style that I love and am confident in! It’s soft and romantic and a little bit film inspired. I’ll be the first to say that I really love the look of film and so admire all my friends who shoot film. I don’t shoot film for various reasons, but it’s the highest compliment when someone asks if I do!

Shortly, after I started experimenting with my editing, my friend Caroline ALSO started realizing that she wanted to move her work towards a more light and airy look. It’s been so much fun to learn and grow together and I’m so thankful for her! She is one of the most thoughtful and caring people I know and I’ve loved getting a front row seat to her journey of growing from 16 year old photographer (literally the first time I hung out with her she was only 16!) to incredible artist, business woman, and teacher.

We have both invested so much time (sooo many hours in lightroom!) into learning to create beautiful light and airy images with consistent tones and colors and we started to realize that this is one of the questions we get the most!! How do you create those dreamy, light + airy images with the soft tones?? We realized that when we were figuring it out, we didn’t know who to ask if our photos were soft and light and pretty or just overexposed? Or how to get light and airy photos even on cloudy, darker days and indoors?

SO, for the first time EVER we’re opening up and sharing all our secrets through a weekly news letter that will be full of tips and secrets that we hope will help other photographers who are struggling to nail the light and airy style! We’ve been the photographer who’s tried to buy a zillion presets thinking that one day one of them will magically work, but it takes more than just a preset and we want to let you in on what we know. If you’ve ever questioned your work or have felt like a fraud when trying to put a price tag on your photos, we hope to help you gain confidence in creating beautiful photos that speak for themselves about how talented and worth it your work is!

There’s so much in store, but for now: download Three Secrets to Light & Airy Photos (Without Wasting Money on Presets) by clicking here. Go ahead and read this first! It will make sure you have a great foundation for the tips we have coming.

Feeling so grateful and excited for the opportunity to share what we’ve learned to help others succeed and feel more confident in taking beautiful light and airy photos!
