the weekly wrap-up!

This will hopefully be the last post I write from my little teeny desk that I got while I was in college!! This weekend I am going desk hunting for one that’s a little bigger so that I can spread out more…My old desk is one of the ones from Ikea that cost less than a hundred dollars…and while it’s been a good desk, it’s time for me to move on…I’m going to work hard over the next week to get my office really organized. I’ve developed a bad habit of moving my giant desktop mac down to my living room because I love how clean and pretty it is and I work so much better in an organized atmosphere…So operation office makeover is now underway! I just bought a chair from World Market thanks to the fact that they were having a killer sale…and the next step is painting my office walls “Vintage Gray”!

I’m actually really excited about the fact that this chair doesn’t have wheels…my old desk chair was actually Ryan’s chair from college and not only was it GIANT so that it took up half my little office, but it also would always roll to the left side of the room…that’s how we found out that the floor is slightly slanted upstairs in our old little house…

On another note, I love weeks like this past one…it’s just been one of those weeks that’s been full of a lot of goodness and a lot of fun moments! It’s also been a busy week…but really just the GOOD kind of busy and I’m so thankful… I feel like I’ve been very productive, but not very stressed which I always count as a win…

  • It started out on a high note after my stepdad had a successful heart surgery on Monday..This was a HUGE praise since there was a 50% chance that the surgery wouldn’t fix the problem. I am so thankful that it went so well!
  • I also got to drive a couple hours to meet up with one of my best friends from college at a random Panera…I don’t get to see her much because she lives in Wyoming, so this was such a treat. I love spending time with her because we just “get” each other so well and it’s always so encouraging…
  • I learned the Selena Gomez dance to Taylor Swift’s “I knew you were Trouble” with my friend Melanie in place of one of our Jillian Michael’s workouts…That probably sounds lame but it was so fun and it was a way better workout than Jillian if you can believe that..I am STILL sore and that was Tuesday. Melanie is actually a dancer so she broke it down and made it much easier to learn..As a former private school cheerleader I probably look really stiff and awkward when I dance but I have fun trying!
  • I refinished lots of furniture! I painted a coffee table, an end table, and four dining room chairs. Giving old furniture a second chance by refinishing it has been such a great way for us to save money as we make our house into our home!
  • I had my first two client meetings in our living room! Meeting with brides is one of my favorite things and while it’s always fun meeting at a Starbucks or local coffee shop, it is way more fun to get to sort of “host” the meeting…I feel like it made the meetings much more comfortable and definitely think they got to learn more about me than they would have at a coffee shop! One day I’ll have to blog about how I run a client meeting just because I love them. I’m striving to make my business really personal and I love when my brides become my friends! I think inviting them into my home is a great way to start!

I hope all of you readers have an awesome weekend! Happy Friday!!

What an INCREDIBLE reminder of what our prtirioies should be when working with little ones! The funny thing is, I used to teach, and now am a stay-at-home Mom. As a teacher, it was easy for me to focus on the process of creativity, rather than the end product. But, for some reason, it’s WAY more difficult for me to do as a parent! This is a humbling reminder Thank You ; )
