I woke up this past Saturday really excited to head to Blacksburg to celebrate Holly and Morgan’s wedding day, but was also in complete disbelief that it was the first day of JUNE…what?? Where has this year gone?? It feels like May barely existed! Probably because I am getting my first taste of what a true busy wedding season feels like! I dont outsource any of my editing, so the busy season means shooting weddings almost every weekend and then spending A LOT of time in from of the computer working on editing! (I’m definitely looking forward to the day when I can hopefully outsource some work!) Because this is on top of everything else that goes into running a business…Yikes! Yesterday it was so good to take the day off to get some rest and to shut my brain off for a little bit. I’m finding it’s hard to ever really turn it off because there is always so much work to be done when you’re running a small business! But it was so good to sleep in, go to church, be lazy all afternoon with Ryan and Lexie, and then have some friends over for drinks and card games. It was such an awesome and relaxing day!
But back to the fact that Morgan and Holly are MARRIED! Here’s a little peek at the newlyweds on their big day…I cant wait to share the rest! It was so much fun to head back up to Blacksburg for their wedding…I had a wedding up there the previous weekend and it’s really amazing how different their pictures are even though we took them on the same campus! Virginia Tech has so many amazing spots for portraits…I’m obviously sort of proud to be a Hokie:).
Last Wednesday I got to head up to Pennsylvania for an engagement session and to visit my sister who is living there for the summer doing an internship! It was the shortest/quickest trip ever and I have to say that I’m not super fond of traffic in the north, but it was so fun hanging out with Lisa and Tyler (engagement session coming to the blog soon!), spending time with my sister, and getting together with one of my favorite PA photogs, Caroline! I’d say it was 48 hours well spent.
Also, I rented a car to drive up there since my car failed inspection last week…It was a 2012 Toyota Camry, and now I am officially sold on buying a car next vs. another SUV. Why? Because I went all the way to Philly, drove around up there a bunch, AND drove back all on one tank of gas. I was so amazed. Sadie (the name I lovingly call my SUV) probably would’ve required TWO full tanks of gas. So now we are on the hunt for a 2 to 3 year old Camry with 30 to 40 thousand miles on it, because according to Dave Ramsey, that’s when you get the best deal on a car!
Now that your all caught up on the recent happenings for AAP and in my personal life here are some June Goals!:
- Shoot my remaining 4 June weddings well!
- Finish putting together my new collateral and packaging to match the new brand!
- Have my pricing guide redesigned! (This ones in the works already!)
- Make sure I take atleast one “weekend day” a week so that I’m getting enough rest!
- Finish organizing my office!
- Car search! (if you know of anyone selling a Camry hit me up!)…Also I’m really bad at change..even when it’s a GOOD change…so getting rid of the car I’ve driven since high school will be bittersweet!
- Celebrate my two year wedding anniversary! (How did that happen?? Life goes by too fast…)
I hope you readers are having a wonderful start to your week! Get excited because lots of pretty wedding images will be on the blog soon!

Take your time editing **wink. I have complete confidence that you will show the Joy of Holly and Morgan, as well as the beauty of Blacksburg. What an amazing job you have-don’t stress! You are a Hokie!
You were lots of fun to be with and I am glad you had ONE day off to refresh and be at home!

Is that in the Haun hort garden? My husband went to VT & used to work in the garden. It was one of my favorite spots to photograph. I actually wanted to have our wedding in the garden but it didn’t work out. Gorgeous photo in any case!
