By now you might already know that anniversaries are a big deal to me…I love celebrating the special things in life! Life is beautiful, yet so fragile, and I think that means that we should celebrate it as often as possible because life is too short not to… One of my favorite things about life is getting to live it with my  husband…words can’t describe how much he means to me and I love getting to go through the big and small..mundane or exciting…things with him. Four years ago yesterday..March 11, 2010..was one of those more exciting days for us! It was the day we got engaged in the city where my dad grew up in Germany at the castle that I used to visit with him when I was a little girl…You can read more of the story that I shared last year here…I know I’m biased, but I think it was the perfect proposal!

This year I really just wanted to write a post that would hopefully inspire others to celebrate the good things in life today..no matter how small. To some, it might even seem silly to celebrate an engagement anniversary…but I believe celebrating something begets thankfulness which leads to a more joyful and fulfilled life. This week I’m thankful to have something like this to celebrate…that Ryan asked me to marry him four years ago and now we get to work on building a lasting and beautiful marriage each day! I’m also so grateful to be going back to Germany this summer to visit my family…and I’m incredibly excited that we are officially having one of my favorite photographers, the incredible Nadia Meli, photograph an anniversary session for us in the city where we got engaged! I know I am going to treasure having photos taken in a place that is so special to us and our relationship!

When we got engaged we had been together for 3 years and he mentioned how it would be so cool to look back at our relationship in 3 more years to see all of the ways that we have grown…Now that we have surpassed those three years, I can say that it just keeps getting sweeter as we get to know each other better and better! That doesn’t mean that it’s always easy, but it does mean that as time goes by and as we grow more as a couple, there is even MORE to celebrate! I love you so much, Ryan! I’m so thankful that my little sister’s best friend was there to capture these special moments…I didn’t even know that I wanted to be a professional photographer at that point, but I did know how much I valued pictures and I love looking back at these prints so much!
