Engagement Anniversary | It’s been 3 years!

I am a big fan of celebrating important life events..it doesn’t matter how big or small..I just like to celebrate the good stuff in life! 3 Years ago, on March 11 (which was actually yesterday, but I couldn’t resist sharing a peek from last weekends wedding yesterday instead!), Ryan and I were in Germany visiting my dad’s side of the family for Spring break, which was the first time he got to meet them..we had spent our trip traveling around to different cities and then for the last day of our trip and we had planned to stay close to my aunts house and spend some time at Nurnberg Castle, where I used to go with my dad when I was a little girl. It sits on top of a hill overlooking the city and is the perfect place to hang out when it’s warm outside…It was FREEZING that day though, so I was trying to give Ryan a quick tour so that we could head back down the hill to sit in a cafe and warm up by having a cappuccino…He was acting funny though, and my sister and her best friend were taking a million pictures of us…I wasnt suspicious though, because we had planned to wait to get engaged until that summer. Once we were in the castle, we decided to split up from my sister and her friend to walk around for a little…We found a bench to sit down for a bit…the view is gorgeous and you can literally see the whole city…so we just sat and stared for a little and then Ryan started talking about how great the past three years had been and how he liked to imagine where we’d be in three more years (I NEVER would have guessed that I’d be a photographer or that we’d be homeowners of a little house in Richmond!)…and that was the beginning of his speech that he had written out beforehand…I obviously still didn’t get where he was going with this though because I kept interrupting him…but after the rest of his speech he finally got down on one knee and I jumped up and yelled “Are you serious???”…then he popped the question and of course I said yes!…I always thought I would cry when I was being proposed to but I think I was still in shock…I cried happy tears later thinking about how sweet it was that he incorporated a piece of my dad who died three years before into our proposal by asking me in my dad’s hometown…

I didn’t find out until later that my sisters best friend was taking pictures the whole time from a window in the castle! They are kind of far away, but they’re so special to me! Then we took a few more pictures before heading down the hill to a cafe to warm up..I was too excited to think about being cold at that point though! That night we celebrated at a restaurant with my family and it was so fun getting to share it with them…

Ryan, I’m so thankful that you asked me to be your wife three years ago yesterday…I can’t wait to see where we will be in three more years…and five, ten and fifty more years!…I love you so much! Thank you for being the best and for loving me and supporting me and my little business. I couldn’t do this without you!
