It was one of those dream-like moments where I had to do a double take to make sure I was actually hearing her correctly…we were at  a women’s retreat for creative small business owners called Pursuit 31 and I hadn’t been getting enough sleep…so I reasoned that I very well could’ve imagined it when Mary asked if I would take some anniversary photos for her and Justin while we were there…But when she asked me again if we could really do it and I was so excited! So we picked a time and made this little mini shoot happen…
Justin and Mary have been a huge inspiration to me in my business and it was such an incredible honor for me to get to take these photos for them. Mary is one of the most amazing women I know…she’s incredibly poised and beautiful. She has this quiet confidence and strength in knowing who she is that I so admire. I’m so thankful for all of the ways she’s spoken truth and encouragement into my life and business! She and Justin fit perfectly together and I loved getting to see their love for each other in this setting…as I scroll through the photos, I think it’s so beautiful how evident it is that he just adores her…

Anniversary Celebration Sessions have become one of my favorite types of shoots to photograph for that reason! While I was in Europe this summer I had the opportunity to shoot several of these and it allowed me to really step away from the usual and hone in on what I want these sessions to represent. It’s about the love that’s grown over years and through the ups and downs of sharing life with someone. It’s about stepping away to remember why you fell in love in the first place…My heart is that couples would always leave these sessions feeling more in love because they stopped everything just to focus on each other. It’s not about being in a good place, or waiting until a certain milestone, and it doesn’t even have to be your anniversary month…it’s just about stepping away and remembering that you have each other and that’s enough.
