DC Maternity Session | Jordan and Amy + Baby

To be honest, I sat down to write this post so many times the past week and I just couldn’t find the words to express how much these three mean to us! Or how much we loved getting to be a part of the opening week for the Bible Museum in DC with them and their church a couple of weeks ago…

The stars aligned last minute and we got to join the most wonderful group of people for a few days of touring the new Museum and exploring DC together! (I even found a Gala dress last minute on clearance…it was meant to be!!). I don’t think I’ve ever had so many back to back enriching experiences or important conversations. We walked through the Bible Museum in awe of the detail and thought that went into creating everything from the architecture to the restaurants to the meaning behind each exhibit. I’ve never felt more inspired to learn more about the foundations for my faith. I don’t think you can walk into that Museum and not be changed by it.

We also felt changed by getting to hear Pastor Rich Warren speak the first night. He shared stories that will always stick with me about the transformation that reading God’s Word brings. “The best use of your life is investing it in something that’s going to outlast it”. Powerful words he spoke that still ring in my ears every day. How am I creating a legacy for future generations and a better future for those who come after me? How can I make a difference with the fleeting time I have today? I wish I could hug Rick Warren (again…we randomly met him and discovered he loves hugs! ha!) for living his life this way and for inviting others to do the same!

I also feel so grateful to have gotten to be a part of the celebration…the culmination of so many years of hard work that brought the museum together! And honestly, even though there were actual VIP’s attending these events, we FELT like the VIP’s. Especially once we threw on the fancy attire for the Gala (and these maternity photos!).

But the real VIP experience was getting to spend time with three of our favorite people on earth and their friends from church! Amy and Jordan are friends that make every person they meet feel like the best person on earth (uh..and would you look at how ADORABLE they are?? Baby Demos is destined to be some kind of Gerber baby model). If you’ve been following the blog a long time, you might be thinking something like “Dang, you photograph those people a lot.” And that’s because we live across the country from each other and make it a priority to plan trips to see each other! And with every trip to a pretty place Amy and I insist that there has to be a photo shoot! That’s what happens when you’re a photographer! Ha! It’s basically required in my book. And luckily our husbands are (usually) super sweet and go along with our plans… ;)

There’s no one that makes us laugh harder or feel more at ease while simultaneously making us want to become the very best versions of ourselves than these two. I get teary thinking about the parents they will be to baby boy Demos and can’t wait to watch them raise him! Someone who is half Amy and half Jordan is going to be the most fun and caring human ever!! I already consider our son super #blessed to get to be buds with him one day soon.

I can’t imagine a bigger blessing than getting to share this pregnancy journey with these three and get so excited thinking about how this is just the beginning! What a blessing to get to sneak away for a few days of adventures!  So many more adventures ahead!! I hope you enjoy a few of my favorites from our time Gala-vanting around DC… ;) You’d never know it was crazy windy and freezing outside by looking at these three!!
