When I first met Katie and Danny this past winter at the National Gallery of Art in DC for their engagement session, I felt the warmth that they radiate as a couple right away…they are so kind and caring and it has been the biggest privilege to get to be a part of this sweet season in their lives! They were my last session before I went on maternity leave and had Gray and they were so patient with me as a super pregnant lady! Ha! I couldn’t wait to see them again for their wedding day!
And it finally happened this past weekend at the gorgeous Woodlawn Plantation just outside of DC! Allison Barnes Events did an incredible job with planning and in spite of the forecast earlier in the week, the weather was beautiful! Both Danny and Katie love history so the gorgeous historic home was such a fitting location for them to tie the knot. They said their vows on the front lawn in front of their closest friends and family and the officiant who was Danny’s childhood pastor shared their love story so perfectly! They first met during college through a campus ministry, but it wasn’t until after school that they fell in love. Danny took her on Symphony dates, to Shakespeare in the Park, to hear poetry…I love that she called this “old school thoughtfulness”. Finally after moving and dating long distance for a year, Danny proposed by the Potomac River in DC! He pulled out the journal that they had been passing back and forth for two years and read her a poem that he had written which ended with him asking her to marry him!
They had written in that same journal the morning of their wedding day and it was so special to see them exchange one last pre-marriage note with each other! Danny and Katie, thank you so much for having me be a part of your wedding day! You two are such a special couple and I am so excited for you and your new marriage! Congratulations again! Enjoy a few of my favorites!
