wedding planner wednesday – the power of spray paint!

Back when I was planning our wedding, creating centerpieces was one of my favorite things to do..I looked up lots of different ideas online and started putting different pieces together…I decided on using lots of milk glass..which meant LOTS of thrifting for milk glass over the course of the year..it was worth it though!! I loved how they turned out!

The only real requirement for centerpieces is that they are cohesive..the different pieces obviously have to look good together!..so I just wanted to share a simple idea to tie different pieces together! SPRAY PAINT! It’s so cheap and easy! and it can turn a typical mason jar into something more unique and make a bunch of mismatched things look pretty together! Here, I used some spray paint colors that we already had on hand from other projects..I think I would have chosen softer or more neutral colors for a more subtle effect…but I love how bright these turned out!

I’m pretty sure our new neighbors think I’m crazy now after seeing me drag one of our end tables and all these flowers out the front door…

I always use satin spray paint for my projects…it’s not too glossy, but still has a nice sheen to it…

Here’s what some of the pieces looked like before! That mug has my high school logo on it…

Tricks to successful spray painting: 1. clean and dry the items first. 2. hold the can of spray paint at least six inches from the object when spraying. 3. apply it lightly..wait for it to dry and then apply another coat if necessary.

I got all of the flowers on clearance at Kroger for $12!!
