wedding planner wednesday – favor idea

Today I wanted to share the diagrams I made for my wedding to make sure all of my details were set up right at our reception…but since we’re STILL in the middle of the move to our new house, I can’t find my wedding planner notebook, so instead I decided to show off this fun favor idea! You can make these coasters and give a set of four away as wedding favors for less than 50 cents!

A friend made the grey striped ceramic coasters and gave them to me as a gift a while back…You can buy ceramic tiles like the ones she used for about 15 cents each at Home Depot…OR you can get the little squares of wood like I used to make my own at Home Depot for about 10 cents each! You could set them at each dinner place setting with a tag tied to it with the guest’s name on it to show people where to sit!

To make the wooden coasters you need:

  • wooden squares (Home Depot for ten cents each)
  • Spray Paint
  • painters tape
  • wood finishing spray (you can buy this at Home Depot too!)

First, put tape on the wooden squares in whatever pattern you want…Stripes were the easiest option, but you could also easily make a chevron pattern…The trick is to make sure you press down on the tape really hard so that you get really straight lines when you take it off after the paint dries!

Then, spray it with a light even coat of paint…If you spray too much at one time it’s more likely to seep under the edges of the tape…

Take the tape off once it’s dry then spray it with the finishing spray to seal the paint, and your done! So easy right??

Happy Wednesday!!
