This past weekend I got to do a lot of shooting..an engagement session in Williamsburg, a wedding at Virginia Beach, and then a senior session back here in Richmond! It was so busy and fun, but I learned an important lesson in the process: As I was finishing up with the bride and groom portraits at the wedding I shot, I realized that I had NO idea where my iPhone was…We were shooting on the beach so I was positive I had dropped it and it would be lost forever…I really wanted to drop everything and start searching for it…I’m not particularly attached to my phone, but I AM attached to the pictures on my phone which I (stupidly) hadn’t backed up in a long time…HOWEVER, a wedding day doesn’t stop moving for anything so I reminded myself that an iPhone is just a THING and losing my pictures doesn’t take away my memories and I forced myself to focus and just keep going…I started praying that it would turn up, but also prayed that I would be okay with it if it didn’t…I ended up finding it about an hour after the wedding was over in the hotel room where the bride got ready…I was SO happy, but also thankful to have learned a few valuable lessons…If you’re a photographer, it doesn’t matter if you’re having a bad day or if you lose your iPhone…you just have to keep going on a wedding day! This is one of the most important days of the brides life: you just have to focus on her! It also made me evaluate what I’m placing value in…an iPhone is just a thing! I can assure you that I downloaded a locater app right after I found it though!!
