Sneak Peek at a Styled Shoot!

This past weekend was packed full of so many good things…It was officially my last “free” weekend before the busyness of wedding season commences next weekend, but it was so full of fun and sweet moments that I can’t hardly complain that it wasn’t super restful…Most of it was spent with Ryan and Lexie (Sidenote: We taught Lexie how to ring a bell on the door to alert us when she needs to go outside to use the bathroom…well she is TOO smart for us humans and just rings it whenever she’s bored and wants to play outside…Ryan likes to say that she’s thinking: “Good humans! I almost have you trained to do exactly what I want!” Oy. We might be rethinking the whole bell idea).

Other than that we hung out with friends and I made a fake styrofoam cake. Yes, you read that right…I made it for our styled shoot on Sunday and was so proud of how it turned out!  (but I was a little sad that we couldn’t eat it after the shoot…). I’m thinking that if photography doesn’t work out, I can become a Faux Cake Artist…

The styled shoot was so much fun and I’m so thankful for the wedding industry professionals who helped to bring the vision to life! I pitched the idea to Michelle Amarillo about a month a half ago and I’m so thankful for how we were able to work together to make it happen…The shoot is meant to be a modernized version of the works and life of F. Scott Fitzgerald, mastermind behind novels such as his most famous, The Great Gatsby. Fitzgerald’s stories capture the essence of the “Roaring” 1920’s “Jazz Era”…The period of flappers and bold fashion statements, economic prosperity and great wealth just before the Great Depression, Prohibition and Speakeasies, etc…And our goal was to style a shoot that would reflect that era with a modern twist…I can only show you a small peek now, but there is SO much more goodness coming…I’m so excited about it and literally cant wait to share the rest!!!

Aaron and I use a bell for our dog! She also quickly learned that she could ring it whenever she wanted to go outside. We were frustrated but decided to keep going with the bell, and we just tried to discern whether or not she REALLY had to go out. That phase only lasted for about 2 weeks, and now she only rings it when she really needs to go out. :)
